Debra A. Sokol-McKay, MS, CDE, OTR/L

Debra is an Occupational Therapist (OT) licensed in the state of Pennsylvania who has been practicing for 35 years. She has worked in the fields of mental health, physical disabilities, vision loss, and diabetes. Debbie is also a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, Low Vision Therapist and retired Certified Diabetes Educator. She serves as adjunct faculty at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, in their Graduate OTD doctorate program. Ms. Sokol-McKay is a co-author of a textbook Low Vision Rehabilitation: A Practical Guide for Occupational Therapists and contributing author of the updated version of the book Making Life More Livable. Debra spent almost 10 years traveling and presenting workshops on vision rehabilitation for Cross Country Education and Summit Education. She also presented workshops and presentations for various state, national, and international conferences as well as invited workshops, published numerous peer professional reviewed and consumer-oriented articles in her areas of expertise. Both in her work with clients and in her writings, Debbie has always focused on providing useful and practical techniques and information to enable people with disability maintain their independence and better enjoy their lives.
