– Large animal diagnosis and treatment residency from the Lithuania University of Health Sciences, Veterinary Academy
Expertise and professional focus:
During her residency, Dovilė not only honed her practical skills in herd health management but also contributed to scientific research, presenting her findings at international congresses and through published scientific studies. Her professional focus lies in scientific communication and research, with a particular interest in large ruminant diseases, antimicrobial resistance, greenhouse effect, methane emission, and natural remedies. She is deeply curious about the ways nature can support human and animal wellness.
Career achievements:
As a veterinary resident, Dovilė worked intensively on improving animal health outcomes, while also taking on the role of Assistant Lecturer. This role allowed her to teach and mentor students, as well as further her research, resulting in high-impact journal articles and conference presentations. She has also recently ventured into the IT field, bringing her analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to a new industry, while maintaining her passion for animal and human health.
Approach to health:
With a firm belief in the power of nature, Dovilė dives to explore how naturality may assist in improving wellness. She searches and combines evidence-based research with a deep curiosity for how nature intersects with human and animal health, always aiming to provide balanced, thoughtful insights. Her interests include the greenhouse effect, sustainable practices, and the relationship between human activity and ecological balance. She is also interested in making scientific knowledge accessible, aiming to empower others to make informed decisions about their health and the world around them.
What Dovilė thinks about current health issues:
Dovilė thinks that one of the most pressing public health issues may be the growing trend of self-diagnosis and self-treatment, both for people and their animals, without proper medical guidance. With the great number of online resources offering unverified and often misleading health information, many individuals feel empowered to take their or their animal’s health into their own hands. While education and access to information are important, this practice often may lead to inappropriate medication use, such as incorrect dosages or the misuse of antibiotics, which can contribute to antimicrobial resistance or cause additional health problems.
This trend undermines the critical role of doctors and veterinarians in providing accurate diagnoses and tailored treatments. To combat this, we must promote health literacy and emphasize the dangers of relying on non-evidence-based advice. Research and evidence-based guidance is essential for preventing long-term risks and ensuring safe, effective care for both people and animals.
