Edita Karosienė, PhD

Edita Karosienė has a bachelor's degree in biophysics from Vilnius University, and she also obtained her master's degree and a PhD in bioinformatics from the Technical University of Denmark.

After her PhD, Edita worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in California. Edita's research work concentrated on immunological bioinformatics — she was making models to understand interactions between immune system cells and molecules and creating computer tools to predict such interactions. Scientists now use these tools to facilitate the discovery of new vaccines and immunotherapies.

In addition to her academic career, Edita has worked for six years as a programmer within the Biostatistics department for an international pharmaceutical company.
