Mira Miller
Mira Miller is a staff journalist for Healthnews. With nearly 10 years of journalism experience under her belt, Mira has worked in a variety of reporting and writing roles. She has a passion for sharing underreported health stories that impact marginalized communities, particularly those related to reproductive and LGBTQIA+ health.

Expertise and professional focus:
Mira has always been deeply interested in public health, health disparities, reproductive health, mental health, and nutrition. Much of her professional work has focused on answering pressing questions that can help empower individuals to better care for themselves and their loved ones. As a young person, she also cares deeply about busting online myths and debunking harmful misinformation that often circulates on social media.
Career highlights:
Mira began her journalism career as an editorial intern at The Globe and Mail, a national Canadian newspaper. She then worked as a reporter at blogTO, the most-read local news outlet in Toronto, for two years. Mira then embarked on a freelance writing career, which is what ultimately allowed her to discover her passion for health journalism.
Throughout her journalism career, Mira has written hundreds of articles on a wide variety of health topics, covering everything from new studies to social media trends to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has particularly focused on finding sources interesting in sharing their personal experiences with taboo subjects, including breastfeeding, abortion, gender-affirming care, disordered eating, endometriosis, and more.
She has been published by many respected journalistic outlets including The Walrus, Vice, Verywell Health, Best Health Magazine, The Bump, Maclean’s, Chatelaine, Insider, and Xtra Magazine.

Mira believes that storytelling unites us and rids us of shame and isolation. She works hard to bring to light stories that aren’t often told, magnifying the voices of those who may otherwise be ignored. She believes in a holistic approach to health and that the body and mind are inextricably connected. Her goal is to share accurate, actionable information that readers can implement to improve their lives. She collaborates with Healthnews researchers and top experts from a variety of fields to ensure that her coverage is factual and credible.

In her spare time, Mira enjoys hot yoga, cooking healthy meals, listening to music, hiking, and spending time with loved ones.
