What is YourBiology Gut+, and how does it work?

Gut+ by YourBiology is a dietary supplement that combines prebiotic fibers, 40 billion CFUs of probiotic bacteria, a digestive enzyme blend, and vitamin D3. It is marketed to support gut health and digestion, the immune system, and contribute to overall well-being.

To ensure the probiotics reach the gut flora alive, the brand uses MAKTrek® Technology. The patented delivery system protects the beneficial gut bacteria from the stomach’s acidic environment. It also makes the product shelf-stable without the need to refrigerate.

Key ingredients:

  • 10 probiotic strains
  • Prebiotic blend
  • Digestive enzyme blend
  • Vitamin D3

What makes Gut+ stand out from similar products on the market is the formula's potential to provide benefits for immunity support, digestion and waste elimination, and microbiome balance.

Key benefits of YourBiology Gut+

Thanks to its formula, YourBiology Gut+ may provide certain potential health benefits other than just supporting gut health. Below, we look at the brand's health claims and how they stack up to science.

Gut microbiome support

The beneficial bacteria in probiotic supplements may support gut microbiome composition by transiently colonizing the gut mucosa. That being said, colonization is usually short-term after the supplementation is over. Introducing probiotics may help support or maintain gut balance as they introduce beneficial bacteria that may compete and eventually overcrowd the pathogenic ones.

Gut microbiome support may contribute to digestive health, alleviate certain mild-to-moderate gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, and support overall digestive health.

Digestion and bowel movements support

A healthy gut microbiome may support better digestion and, in turn, contribute to regular bowel movements. The formula also contains digestive enzymes that may provide some additional relief from indigestion. Digestive enzymes help break down certain types of food, which may help with indigestion and complement probiotics.

The formula also contains prebiotic fibers that have been shown to support gastric emptying compared to placebo.

A meta-analysis showed that probiotics may help manage irritable bowel syndrome symptoms, especially abdominal pain, and the severity scores of such symptoms as flatulence and bloating.

Immune support

Probiotics have been suggested to offer some immune-supporting benefits due to the immune system-microbiota cross-talk. Lactobacillus species may be useful for supporting the immune system while reducing inflammatory responses, especially within the gut. However, most of the studies are done in vitro and in animals.

The formula also contains vitamin D3, which is also involved in immune processes. Immune cells express the receptor for vitamin D, and deficiencies are associated with increased autoimmunity and susceptibility to infection.

Combined probiotics and vitamin D3 may help support a healthy immune response.

Ingredients in YourBiology Gut+

To help you better understand the label, here is a quick overview of the active ingredients.

Probiotic blend:

  • Lactobacillus acidophilus
  • Bifidobactrium breve
  • L. paracasei
  • L. fermentum
  • Saccharomyced boulardii
  • L. casei
  • B. bifidum
  • B. longum
  • L. rhamnonus

Taken together, the strains have supporting evidence to potentially help reduce excessive bloating, inhibit certain pathogens, assist in antibiotic-associated diarrhea management, contribute to gut inflammation management support, and potentially help with bowel regularity. Some strains may also help with IBS symptoms, immune support, and gut lining integrity. However, there are no studies looking at this exact combination of probiotic stains. Most of them have supporting evidence alone or in combination with one or two other strains. Moreover, while the research is still growing, not all of the mechanisms are clear in terms of probiotics' impact on gut health and the immune system. More rigorous and large-scale studies are needed to fully support such potential benefits.

Digestive enzyme blend:

  • Amylase, which helps break down carbohydrates.
  • Lipase, which helps break down fats.
  • Protease, which breaks down proteins.

Together, the digestive enzymes help break down food and support overall digestion.

Prebiotic blend:

  • Inulin. A soluble dietary fiber found in many plants, inulin may contribute to the growth of beneficial gut bacteria by acting as food for the bacteria. It may also play a role in regulating lipid metabolism and contribute to constipation management.
  • Fructooligosaccharide (FOS). FOS is an undigestible oligosaccharide naturally occurring in numerous plants. It is considered to be a soluble dietary fiber. Due to its prebiotic properties, it may play a role in stimulating the growth of beneficial bacteria.

Vitamin D3

It has an important role in calcium absorption and bone density and supports the immune system and overall health by being an essential vitamin.

What people liked

  • Digestion support. Most buyers noted improvements in excessive bloating, gas, and stomach discomfort while using the supplement.
  • Suitable for most diets. Several customers like that the capsules are free from dairy, gluten, and soy, and are vegan and non-GMO, catering to various dietary needs.
  • Convenience. Many buyers appreciated that the product does not need to be refrigerated and the 60-day money-back guarantee.

What people didn’t like

  • Limited availability. A couple of users were displeased that the product was only available on the official website.
  • Price. A few customers mentioned that the product was more expensive than many similar products and questioned the value for money despite potential benefits.
  • Varied effectiveness. A handful of users mentioned experiencing minimal or no improvements in their digestive health, even with consistent use.

Tips for using YourBiology Gut+

While we suggest following the recommendations provided by the manufacturer or your doctor’s advice, there are a couple of ways to optimize the use of YourBiology Gut+ and potentially get the health benefits offered by the beneficial bacteria and other ingredients.

  • Follow the recommended dose. It is recommended to take three capsules daily.
  • Consistency. Probiotics take some time to exert positive effects and have any potential impact on the gut microbiome composition. While you may experience digestion support thanks to the digestive enzymes within a couple of days, the brand recommends using the product for more than three months for optimal results.
  • Allow time for adjustments. You may experience mild bloating or gas, which may occur as your microbiome adjusts to the use of probiotics. These effects typically subside within a week or two. If the side effects do not subside, stop using the supplement and consult with a healthcare provider.
  • Proper storage. While the product does not require refrigeration, it should still be kept in a cool, dry place.

There are also a couple of lifestyle factors that may help support gut microbiota and overall health:

  • Incorporate probiotic foods
  • Try meeting dietary recommendations for daily fiber intake
  • Limit overly processed foods
  • Stay hydrated
  • Manage stress levels
  • Exercise regularly

By combining probiotic supplementation with a healthy lifestyle and probiotic and prebiotic-rich diet, you are more likely to support digestive health, gut microbiota balance, and overall well-being.

I found an online ad for this product and it sparked my interest. I have had gastrointestinal issues for many years and have taken all kinds of prescriptions for the issues. After a certain amount of time the prescriptions don't work and I'm on to the next one. But, once I saw your website and the cost for the product, I was flabbergasted. Your price for one month is way out of line. Not everyone has the means to afford a product they'll have to use indefinitely. It's so sad that companies feel they have to price an item out of reach for the average consumer.
